Hellraiser: Revival story and characters
You play Aidan, who uses a puzzle box called the Genesis Configuration to go into the Labyrinth after his girlfriend Sunny. It is a new story in the Hellraiser universe, drawing on the first two films but not continuing them, with Doug Bradley back as the voice of Pinhead.

The premise
Aidan uses the power of a mysterious puzzle box, the Genesis Configuration, to help his girlfriend Sunny escape the Labyrinth. The box is new to this story; the Lament Configuration of the films is a different one.
Does it follow the films?
No, although it borrows from them. Saber’s executive producer, Nenad Tomic: “The game is inspired by the first two Hellraiser movies, drawing from their atmosphere, themes, and mythos. However, its plot is not directly connected to the movies. Instead, it should be seen as a new story set within the Hellraiser universe”. It is a story you play alone, with no co-op; see the multiplayer page.
Clive Barker, who created Hellraiser, has been involved with the game from the start.

Three factions

- The Cenobites. The beings from the films, led by Pinhead. The ones you face include Chatterer, Butterball, the Female Cenobite and Pinhead himself.
- The Scarlet Church. A cult led by a charismatic figure named Marlowe. It wants the Genesis Configuration for itself, and it is the enemy of the demo.
- The Unworthy. Once-human wretches who chased the ultimate experiences of sensation and were turned away by Leviathan, ruler of the Labyrinth.
Other enemies include Cultists, Runners and Bursters.
What the box does
The Genesis Configuration, “the box”, drives both the story and the gameplay. Outside combat it reshapes parts of the Labyrinth to open paths and helps with puzzles; in combat you execute enemies to gather their Suffering, then spend it on Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis or the Hell Chains.
