The Genesis Configuration: powers and puzzles

Aidan’s box serves two jobs: it changes the Labyrinth to open paths and gives him supernatural combat abilities. Executions gather Suffering to fuel those abilities. The full game adds the complete power system beyond the free demo.

Which power does what?

These are different uses of the same box, rather than three extra guns. Telekinesis uses objects, Pyrokinesis uses fire, and Hell Chains summons the chains themselves.

Suffering: where the power comes from

Gruesome executions gather Suffering, which lets Aidan unleash the box’s abilities. Conventional weapons and the box work alongside each other; the box does not replace the firearm or melee weapon in his other hand.

Do not plan a build around assumed damage numbers, a particular cooldown or an unlock order. Those details are not available yet. For buying decisions, the Standard and Deluxe comparison separates the Nailer weapon from cosmetic skins.

Outside combat: changing the way forward

The Genesis Configuration can transform parts of the Labyrinth to open paths. Manipulating it also helps solve puzzles in the mortal world. Its environmental role is separate from the executions and powers used during combat. See the looping-room and environmental puzzle tips if a route will not open.

The Genesis Configuration is the box in Aidan’s story. It is not the Lament Configuration from the films; the story and character guide explains Aidan, Sunny and the Labyrinth.

Can you try all of this in the demo?

The demo covers the Prologue and part of Episode 1, introducing puzzle solving, crafting and combat. The complete Genesis Configuration powers, weapon upgrades and more complex puzzles belong to the full game. Treat the demo as an introduction, rather than a complete test of the box’s power system.
