The Hellraiser: Revival demo
Free, on Steam, with about an hour and a half of play for a typical player. It covers the Prologue and part of Episode 1. Your progress does not carry over to the full game, and it still has no field-of-view option, which many players ask for.
How to get it
Open the demo’s Steam page and press Download; it is a separate free app, not a trial of the paid game. There is no demo on PS5, Xbox or Switch 2 so far; console players can watch the trailer above instead.
What is in it
The Prologue, where Aidan follows Sunny into the Labyrinth, then part of Episode 1, where he has to escape the Scarlet Church, the cult that has taken the Genesis Configuration.
It teaches the basics of puzzles, crafting and combat. The full game adds the box’s powers, an arsenal of upgradeable weapons and more complex puzzles; the powers are described on the story page.
How long is the demo, and does progress carry over?
Typically about an hour and a half, including any replays; many players spend between 75 and 130 minutes in it.
Progress does not carry over to the full game. Treat it as a taste, not a head start.
The FOV and head-bob complaint
The request that comes up again and again is about the camera. There is no field-of-view slider, the view feels zoomed in, and head bob cannot be turned off; some players say it made them motion sick. Both are still missing from the demo, and Saber has not said whether the full game will add them.
If a narrow field of view bothers you, the demo is the place to find out before you buy; check your PC against the two requirement tiers first.
What the patch fixed
Saber has patched the demo once. The main fixes:
- Getting stuck or softlocked during movement, combat and interactions
- Controls freezing when certain actions were combined
- The Quick Turn trigger, and aim staying on after rebinding the Aim key
- Enemy animation loops and combat states
- Wrong tutorial hints, and tutorial messages and objectives vanishing after a settings change
- Journal collections not updating after reading entries or listening to dictaphone recordings
- Lighting across the Prologue and Episode 1
- Wrong resolution on multi-monitor setups, and the game file flagged as unsafe (it is now digitally signed)
